Here’s mine :)

I woke up about 6am on Sunday (14th) morning with what I thought was contractions but I wasnt sure so I lay in bed trying time them and figure out if they were real or just braxton hicks. Jonny woke up after a while and I told him not to get excited but I thought I might be having contractions. I couldnt get back to sleep (mainly through excitement rather than pain ) so at about 7ish I got up and got dressed. I wandered around trying to occupy myself for most of the day as well as trying to time the contractions. The contractions were really erratic so at 4 that afternoon I’d come to the conclusion they were just braxton hicks and nothing to worry about. We then decided to go out for a curry with a few friends and all through the meal I was getting contractions and some were really starting to hurt. After the meal we walked home and as we got to the bottom of our road we said jokingly to our friends “you never know next time we see you we might have a baby!”. When we got home the contractions really started kicking in so I thought I’d ring the labour ward and see what they said. The midwife I spoke to was really rude and told me “believe me darling you aren’t properly in labour yet, I’d be able to tell over the phone. Have a paracetamol and go to bed you’ll be fine in the morning.” So I went to bed like she said and just as I got into bed my waters went with a big pop! I rang her again and said my waters had gone so she said “fine you can come in for a check but we’ll probably send you home again”. It was 1am by this point so we had to grab all my bags and phone for a taxi. I got to the hospital for about 2am where the midwife (luckily not the horrible one I’d spoken to on the phone) checked the pad I had on to check my waters really had gone. She came back a few minutes later and said that there was meconium in the waters so I would have to go straight into the delivery suite and go on a drip to hurry the baby up. I went into the delivery suite and got hooked up to various machines and a drip. The midwife checked and said I was already 5cm dilated and with the drugs it shouldnt be too long. We were then left on our own in the room and the midwife kept poking her head in now and again to check how I was doing. At about 4am a young midwife came in and sat with us and asked if I wanted any pain relief so I had some gas and air. At just gone 5 I got the urge to push so she called for another midwife. A few minutes later they said they could se the head but that something looked strange, with the next contraction his whole head was born and they strange thing turned out the be his hand! It was at the side of his head, not flat against it but sideways! The midwifes said that he looked as if he was waving hello  a couple of contractions later at 5:19am he was born and whisked off to a side table to be checked by a paediatrician because of the meconium in the waters. I remember just saying over and over “is it alright??”. Then after what seemed like forever the midwife brought him over and said I had a healthy little boy :D She asked if we had a name picked out and I said yes, he’s Isaac. Much to the confusion of Jonny because we’d got a few names picked out but not really decided properly. I think I thought after all that effort he was having the name I wanted most  after the midwifes had stitched me up and left us to it I rang my mum and Dad while Jonny rang his parents and text our friends. I went for a shower a bit later but came over all weird and light headded. I managed to get to the door just before I passed out. When I came round I was in bed with a midwife looking at me. She said I’d lost a lot of blood and that’s why I passed out and that I might need a transfusion. After a couple of hours I felt a lot better and went for a proper shower and got taken to the ward. I came home the next day after much complaining at midwifes and doctors!

And here is the little man himself!
